Too Much MySQL going on?

There have been some folks asking about what is going to happen with Collaborate 11 and the O'Reilly MySQL Conference overlapping on the calendar this April. It just happens that the two shows over lap and venues are usually booked years in advance.  IOUG and O'Reilly probably both winced when they realized the overlap on the calendar.

How will the MySQL Community Team balance the two?  Easy, Lenz Grimmer will be in Orlando and Dave stokes will in Santa Clara.

Collaborate is the big yearly International Oracle Users Group meeting where Oracle routinely provides details on the latest and greatest product announcements. Now that MySQL is part of the Oracle family and will have its own track at Collaborate from both the MySQL Community and Oracle. We are also supporting the O'Reilly conference with a sponsorship
and keynote as well as by providing a number of technical sessions for the
MySQL community there.
Collaborate has (http://collaborate11.ioug.org/Portals/1/attendee/MySQL%20Sessions.pdf) has over seventy session in their MySQL track from speakers such as Lars Thalmann, Lenz Grimmer, Peter Gulutzan, Mark Brown.  About half of the speakers are from the community like Sheeri Cabral, and Ronald Bradford. The O'Reilly conference is still firming up sessions (http://en.oreilly.com/mysql2011/public/schedule/full). Oracle will have a key note and  sessions with products presented by Oracle Engineering. Speakers include Lars Thalmann, Mats Kindahl, Bernhard Ocklin, Calvin Sun,  and Dave Stokes.

You should also plan on attending MySQL Sunday! We had a very successful MySQL Sunday at Oracle Open World last year. You can count on breaking news, community, and customer activities taking place at the next one. Mark your calendars now for OOW, October 2nd through 6th! (http://www.oracle.com/us/openworld/registration-173440.html#openworld).

In summary, we are expanding our outreach to the MySQL users, by offering not just one but multiple venues where you can get together, provide feedback, and get access to tons more technical content.
